Walker Lake Submerged Landscapes Project (PI: Neil Puckett)

I ventured out to Walker Lake, Nevada this summer with Neil Pucket. His NSF funded dissertation project is searching for submerged river channels in the lake and possible habitation sites on those channels. Despite the typical equipment and weather challenges of underwater archaeology, the project was successful. Data is still being analyzed, but check out the link to view the Google Photo album.

Fort Gates Cemetery Project (PI: Christine Jones)

I assisted Dr. Christine Jones this February with test units at Fort Gates Cemetery in Fort Gates, TX. She successfully verified that the cemetery was used by Fort Gates soldiers. The TAMUCT Archaeological Field School May 2017 will investigate the home of O. T. Tyler, a local man contracted to provide corn to Fort Gates.
